Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) is a chromatographic sample‑preparation technique that uses a solid sorbent to selectively isolate and concentrate target compounds from complex matrices. In a typical SPE method, either the analyte or the interfering matrix components are retained on the sorbent, then the retained analyte is eluted in a clean, concentrated fraction ready for GC, HPLC, or LC‑MS analysis. Takahe’s SPE systems implement this by driving solvent through the sorbent using either positive pressure or vacuum ( negative pressure).
When a BA/BE lab needs to process 48, 96, 144, or 210 samples in a single extraction run, the speX Series delivers consistent flow across every column, reproducible recoveries, and the IQ/OQ/PQ documentation trail required for regulatory submissions. The 144 cartridge rack splits into three independent sections of 48. Visibility of eluting samples is identical to working on a speX 48. Each section is lighter on the arms, easier to handle, and loads flat on the benchtop without the risk of contaminating cartridge tips. Conceptualised, designed, and manufactured first by Takahe.

The 12 / 24 position vacuum manifold processes all SPE cartridges simultaneously under controlled negative pressure. The transparent acrylic/glass chamber allows direct visual monitoring of solvent flow through each cartridge during conditioning, loading, washing, and elution. Each of the ports comes with an independent stopcock valve.
